The worst famine … “20 Million Crisis”(March 12, 2017 )
The UN has repeatedly warned that 20 million people in four countries face serious famine in Africa and the worst humanitarian crisis since World War II.Countries suffering from famine are Somalia, South Sudan, Nigeria and Yemen.
UN says more than 20 million people are hungry in only four of these countries.
It is the biggest crisis since 1945.
More than half of the population in Somalia is hungry for starvation.
People are currently gathering in a refuge.
It is common for a tenant to starve in a refuge village that has reached 160km to survive.
Somalia’s government says 110 people died of starvation in the first 48 hours of March. South Sudan, which was founded in 2011, is also in serious condition. 4.9 million people are suffering from starvation.
Once a month, UN transport transports relief supplies to South Sudan, but it is not enough.
There are many people who eat grass because there is no food.
“I do not have anything to eat, I eat everything I want to eat, I eat grass, I have to live like this now.”
The nutritional status is in a mess and they are vulnerable to disease.
In Yemen, where the real hunger is the most serious, one child dies every 10 minutes.
UNICEF says 1.4 million children will die of starvation this year if this condition persists.
